Collection: Manolo Cuervo
Isla Cristina 1955
Manuel Cuervo de la Rosa, born in Isla Cristina and a lifelong resident of Seville, emerged as a distinctive voice in the artistic landscape of Spain. His early works, created in the late 1970s, were deeply rooted in the landscapes of his youth, serving as both homage and reflection. As a prolific graphic artist and designer, Cuervo de la Rosa played a pivotal role in the cultural revival of Seville during the early 1980s. His dynamic, color-saturated posters became emblematic of key cultural events—concerts like Cita en Sevilla, jazz festivals, and theater productions—infused with influences ranging from Pop Art to abstract expressionism, and contemporary graphic design.
His work, featured in a variety of retrospective exhibitions such as La mirada indiscreta ("The Indiscreet Gaze") and Crónica de un paseante ("Chronicle of a Stroller"), offers a voyeuristic glimpse into reality, interpreted through a vivid palette and enriched by endless references to popular culture. From cinema to literature, from the press to jazz, Cuervo de la Rosa’s art functions as a visual archive, constantly engaging with the world around him.
